Συλλογή 015: Greece Easter 2014
One of the things I miss greatly since I left Greece is Easter. This is the biggest holiday in Greece. Every village, town, region has its own traditions. And my home, Chios has its rocketwar. Yup you heard it. In the town of Vrontados, two parishes Agios Markos and Panagia Erithriani, shoot rockets at each other starting midnight Easter. The one who shoots the bell tower first wins. According to tradition, the custom dates to the Ottoman era. Oh, and when I mean rockets don't assume propellers and grenades. They are wooden sticks loaded with a propellant mix containing gunpowder. But the view is amazing. I finally got to visit my family in 2014. Normally I visit in the summer, but that year I made the decision to finally celebrate Easter in Greece since 1994. Of course I could not resist, pictures... I have to give credits to my sister. Her head served as my tripod. Ευχαριστώ μικρή :).
Also I got to visit Nea Moni.
Also, to introduce the most cooperative cat my mom ever had. She really loved being photographed. I am not kidding...
