Συλλογή 030: March Macro Sessions
It’s been quiet. I have been cleaning up a lot of old photos, backing up and organizing. Also, I have been think about whether I should purchase a macro lens to work more on close ups. But, these lenses are not cheap and I am thinking of a camera body upgrade so… I decided to try macro filters. I have a couple of sets lying around. I did some reading but I usually learn by trying. I tested them on two of my lenses, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G and the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II. I love the former. Fixed zoom, lightweight, great in low light conditions, excellent background blur. This lens was very easy to work with the filters. So I quickly set the latter aside. The thing about filters is you have to do everything manually. Some will say that automatic focus works well but honestly it’s not perfect. In all the photos, I used manual focus. And even then you have to deal, especially if you are taking nature pictures like blooms or small leaves, with the elements. And this afternoon was breezy. So, simply patience. Nevertheless, I think for now I will stick with filters. The macro lens will have to wait. Pictures are from the US National Arboretum.
The next pair is from a series of shots taken. The camera was held at the same spot as the wind blew. I was able to get two photos with different focus points of the same branch.
