Συλλογή 029: Harpers Ferry: Murphy Farm- Fall 2022
Closing the fall series with picture from Harpers Ferry, WV. Having grown up in a place with no rivers, I find Harpers Ferry exciting. This is where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers meet, the borders of three states Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. It is also a place with amazing trail, breathtaking views and a lot of history. Given it’s strategic location, it was severely impacted by the Civil War. Shortly prior to the Civil War, John Brown led a raid on the federal armory to start a revolt against slavery in the South. While it ended with Brown’s capture and execution, it was the spark of what followed.
I was planning to go to the Maryland Trailhead but it was quite a busy day so I chose to visit Murphy Farm and take pictures of the Bull Falls at Shenandoah river. The farm has quite a history as it was a Civil War battlefield and the site for the Second Niagara Movement pilgrimage in 1906.
Light was good perfect for foliage and pics of the Shenandoah River and Bull Falls. More photos are here.
