Συλλογή 027: Michaux State Forest - Fall 2022
Fall pictures continue. Probably another two collections. Then, I will be taking care of some outstanding collections. Michaux State Forest is near the border of Maryland. It was surprisingly a relaxing drive, not much traffic on the Beltway or the 270. Once off the main highway, the foliage, the scenery was breathtaking. Driving through Maryland is interesting. Whether you drive north along the 95 or west along the 270, you get the sense that Maryland is a big state. Is not. It’s an L shaped member of our Union that fools you into thinking that it is this expanse stretching from the Atlantic to the Midwest. Or distracts you with its natural beauty.
The proximity to DC and the excellent foliage reports by the Pennsylvania DCNR were the reasons I visited the Forest. Michaux State Forest is near the border with Maryland about 20 minutes from Frederick. It is named after Andre Michaux, a botanist that named many of the forest’s plants.
It was a good day for photos. I wanted to really play with the diverse array of colors, yellow, orange, red and green that dominated the forest. These are from the southern part on the forest, near Green Ridge. The full collection is here.
