Συλλογή 019: Greece Christmas 2014 - Cats
Growing up we always had cats around. These were not your traditional house cats many in the US are accustomed to. Some were resident cats, that lived to the end of their lives with us, others would come and go until one day we will never see them again. Sometimes we would run into them at a neighbor’s porch, where being cats they probably found better food and accommodations. You see Mom liked cats, as long as they stayed outside the house. Most of our resident cats were content with that agreement as long as food, water and rudimentary shelter for the winter were available. My Dad had build a little cat house for them to go, with a rug.
Given this state of flux, the numbers always varied. But 2014 was part of a long stretch of high feline numbers. And anyone who has visited Greece will quickly realize that cats in Greece have quite the personality ranging from extreme affection to utter contempt. I am not a cat person but must say cannot resist their personalities. So here they are, the cats of the Vatakis estate, circa 2014.
